diy: how to make a tulle light garland

This morning I shared this stunning Urban Eclectic inspiration shoot styled by the lovely Michelle from Pocketful of Dreams and her talented team, and this afternoon I’m thrilled to share a DIY project behind one of the pretty details that caught my eye, a twinkly fairy light garland.

Here it is in action!

How to make a Tulle Light garland

This tulle light garland is such a beautiful prop to use, all soft and ethereal looking it’s perfect to use as a backdrop for your ceremony, a sparkly addition to a cake table or just wrap yourself up in it for a quirky yet pretty portrait of you and your man.  And when I say simple, I mean really simple.

You will need

A String of fairy lights ~ I went for the ones that give off a white light rather than the yellowy kind

A Tulle fabric ~ this comes in many colours so pick one that works for you, mine was a delicate blush pink

{step one} count how many spaces there are between the bulbs on your garland as this is how many strips of fabric you will need

{step two} now cut the tulle into strips, the size is really up to you depending on how big you want your bows

{step three} wrap one of your tulle strips in between each bulb on your string of lights, tie in a knot and repeat with another piece of tulle to give a cross shape effect

{step four} repeat until all the spaces are filled with tulle, plug in and admire the pretty glow.

A big thank you to Michelle for sharing!  We’d love to hear if you’re going to try this out for your big day?
